Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
bridges the gap between movies, and premieres on Paramount+ this summer.

    Mutant Mayhem
, and promises new adventures for the heroes as they navigate being both teenagers and superheroes.
  • Tales of the TMNT
serves as a fresh take on the long-standing franchise, maintaining fan-favorite characters with a modern, reimagined style.

After the smashing success of 2023’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, the heroes are returning to the small screen in a new series called Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Based on the 1984 comic series of the same name, the TMNT has blossomed into a bona fide media franchise and 2023’s Mutant Mayhem was their latest cinematic adventure. However, the new film also helped to reinvent the style of the beloved characters, properly ushering them into the 2020s and kicking off a new era for the franchise.

The turtles are no strangers to TV, and they actually became mainstream thanks to the wildly popular animated series of the late 1980s and ’90s. Ever since then, the characters have been mainstays on TV and at the movies, and the newly announced Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is only the latest in a long line of series to feature the characters. Unlike other versions, the new cartoon series is built upon the box office success of Mutant Mayhem, and is even helping to build synergy for the upcoming sequel.

Not much was known about the story of the new series for a long time, though it has been pitched as a bridge between Mutant Mayhem and its announced sequel Mutant Mayhem 2. Mutant Mayhem ended rather conclusively with the turtles teaming up with their mutant cousins and stopping the dastardly Superfly. The trailers have revealed that the team will face a new threat in the form of Bishop, a mutant-hating evildoer who plans to use robots to eliminate all mutants. Bishop’s plan involves splitting the brothers up, which will force each turtle to learn to fight on their own.

Not much was revealed in the short trailer, but it certainly succeeds at drumming up interest in the new series.

Another teaser for Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was released on X (formerly Twitter) and it not only advertises the new show, but the entire TMNT franchise on Paramount+. The new footage shows the Turtles up to their usual antics, but it also features a dynamic shot of the team posing on a rooftop that is reminiscent of the cover of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1.

Finally, Paramount+ released the full trailer for Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles which reveals the plot of the upcoming series. After a cheeky introduction sequence which reacquaints fans with each individual Turtle and their various quirks, it then reveals the new villain, Bishop. With a dastardly plan to eliminate all mutants, Bishop uses robots to isolate each of the TMNT members, forcing them to learn how to fight on their own without the help of their brothers. Bishop will not only challenge the young team physically, but mentally as well.
