Terrifier 3 is ready to unleash Art the Clown once more in a Christmas-themed sequel that’s set to hit theaters on October 11, 2024, and director Damien Leone is already teasing that the film’s opening scene will appeal to fans of a couple of genre classics. Serving as a direct sequel to 2022’s Terrifier 2, the new entry will see the return of Lauren LaVera as protagonist Sienna Shaw, as well as villainess Victoria Hayes (Samantha Scaffidi). David Howard Thornton will don the makeup once more as Art the Clown, who promises to wreak havoc on the residents of Miles County.

Posting on X (formerly Twitter) director Damien Leone recently took time away from editing Terrifier 3, which wrapped filming in June and is now in post-production, to tease what audiences can expect from the movie’s opening moments. He says that fans of both the Wes Craven hit Scream and the 1979 Carol Kane classic When a Stranger Calls are in for a real treat when it comes to his new sequel. Check out Leone’s post below:

Terrifier 3

Both Scream and When a Stranger Calls open with someone on the phone being terrorized by an unseen villain. While Carol Kane managed to make it all the way through her movie in one piece, Drew Barrymore wasn’t so lucky, and ended up gutted and hanging from a tree during the first 12 minutes courtesy of Ghostface. Given that the Terrifier franchise has a reputation for gory and practical special effects, it’s safe to surmise that Art the Clown is going to take things to a whole new level in the opening moments. Whether it’s the “horrific scene” teased previously by Leone that saw David Howard Thornton nearly lose his lunch remains to be seen.

While the first two entries in the Terrifier franchise featured relatively unknown actors at the time, save for a few guest appearances from the likes of wrestling superstar Chris Jericho, Felissa Rose (Sleepaway Camp) and Tamara Glynn (Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers), Terrifier 3 is putting its increased budget to good use by not only continuing with the practical blood and gore it’s known for, but by bringing in more genre mainstays that fans will easily recognize.

Among the new additions to the cast are special effects legend Tom Savini, Daniel Roebuck (The Devil’s Rejects, Rob Zombie’s Halloween), and Jason Patrick (The Lost Boys). Check out the confirmed cast list below, which features even more genre legends set to appear in Terrifier 3.
