The Boys Will End With Season 5 on Prime Video

The Boys Will End With Season 5 on Prime Video

  • Final season announcement for The Boys came directly from creator Eric Kripke, sticking to the original plan of five seasons.
  • Season 5 promises a gory and epic conclusion to the popular Amazon superhero show, leaving fans excited for what’s to come.
  • Despite the end of The Boys, spin-offs like Gen V and The Boys: Mexico are in the works to continue exploring the world of corrupted superheroes.

The Boysseason 5 will be the final series of the hit Amazon superhero show, creator Eric Kripke has revealed. Taking to social media to make the announcement ahead of the premiere of season 4, Kripke stated that five seasons of the show has always been the plan, and it’s a plan he will stick to.

You can check out what Kripke had to say about the fifth and now final season of The Boys below…

“#TheBoys Season 4 Premiere Week is a good time to announce: Season 5 will be the Final Season! Always my plan, I just had to be cagey till I got the final OK from Vought. Thrilled to bring the story to a gory, epic, moist climax. Watch Season 4 in 2 DAYS, cause the end has begun!”

Alongside the news, Kripke also shared an image of a redacted page from the script for the season 4 finale, which is due to debut on Prime Video on July 18, 2024. The news will no doubt come as something of a surprise to fans, considering that Kripke recently hinted that, while five seasons had been the plan, things had changed. He recently said to Inverse

“I have learned since then to not try to call the seasons as the person who, and this is without hyperbole, is literally the most wrong in entertainment history of how many seasons their show should go.”

Evidently, this is not the case, with The Boys now due to end with season 5. But fear not, as the world of The Boys will continue with the likes of Gen V, which has been renewed for a second season, and The Boys: Mexico, which counts Diego Luna and Gael Garcia Bernal among its producers.

The Boys Season 4 Will Debut on Prime Video This Month

Plot details for The Boys season 5 of course remain under wraps at this time, but Eric Kripke has already teased what real-world happenings he might use as inspiration. While addressing the recent season 5 renewal, he said…

“’The Boys’ could be the best job I’ll ever have. What other show allows me to write about politics, capitalism, family, and exploding genitalia, though not in that order. The cast and crew are deeply grateful to Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios for the opportunity to tell this story for another season. My only problem is that since this year promises to be free of any conflict or misinformation, we’re not sure what to write about.”

The Boys Showrunner Has a Blunt Message For Those Complaining the Series is ‘Woke’

Eric Kripke has shared his thoughts about the political and real-world stances shown in The Boys reflecting so called ‘woke’ ideals.

Based on the comic book of the same name by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, The Boys takes place in a universe where super-powered individuals are recognized as heroes by the public and owned by the powerful corporation Vought International. However, outside their heroic personas, most of these so-called “heroes” are arrogant and corrupt, with the series focusing on the titular Boys, a group of vigilantes looking to keep the corrupted superheroes under control.

The series has been a massive hit for Prime Video, and stars Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Laz Alonso, Tomer Capone, and Karen Fukuhara as the titular vigilantes and Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Dominique McElligott, Chace Crawford, Jessie T. Usher, and Nathan Mitchell as the main line-up of supes.

The Boys
season 4 will debut its first three episodes on June 13, before airing the rest of its eight episodes on a weekly basis.
