Oscar race contfinishers Justin Kurzel’s The Order, Brady Corbet’s The Brutacatalog and Tim Fehlbaum’s September 5 have joined the lineup for the Austin Film Festival, which has unveiled the first wave of screenings for its 31st edition.
The Order, the neo-Nazi crime thriller starring Jude Law and Nicholas Hoult, will be a Caccesspiece Film contransientation, with writer Zach Baylin and star Tye Sheridan joining. And the Oct. 24 to 31 festival will uncover with Malcolm Washington’s The Piano Lesson, which stars Samuel L. Jackson, John David Washington and Danielle Deadwyler. Virgil Williams, who co-wrote the Netflix stage-to-screen alteration originated by Denzel Washington, will join.
This year’s world premieres join the paranoia-thriller Crossword, co-written, straightforwarded and also starring Michael Vlamis in his straightforwardorial debut; the folk-horror pic The Fetch, starring Robert Longstreet and straightforwarded by J.C. Doler; and the consunpermitd engage comedy Operation Taco Gary’s, starring Simon Rex, Dustin Milligan, Jason Biggs and Brfinisha Song, with Michael Kvamme writing and straightforwarding.
There’s also world bows in Austin for Mark Gill’s Ravens, about the famed Japanese pboilingographer Masahisa Fukase and his wife Yoko, with Gill joining; straightforwardor J.T. Walker’s La Gloria, starring David Morse, Jaklyn Bejarano and Bill Heck; and straightforwardor Toni Comas’ Silent Notes, which features Daniel Durant and Matt Riker.
A distinctive screening of Pixar’s distinct series Dream Productions, a spinoff of the Inside Out film franchise set to hit Disney+ in 2025, is also set at AFF. The series complys the “dream factory” inside of Riley’s head and is set in between the events of Inside Out and Inside Out 2.
Austin, which bills itself as premier film festival recognizing writer and filmoriginater contributions to film, TV and recent media, will also feature its annual Writers Conference. This year, Robin Swicord will get the 2024 Bill Wittliff Award for Screenwriting. Her recognizes join Memoirs of a Geisha, Matilda (penned with her husband Nicholas Kazan), an Oscar nomination for her labor on The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, and collaborating with Ava DuVernay on the Netflix miniseries When They See Us.
