UK storm alert as lightning and torrential rain to batter nation in hours - new maps | UK | News

A new interactive weather map indicates that many regions of the UK will endure violent thunderstorms in the coming days, with Monday 10 June forecasted to be the most affected.

The map, created by forecasters at InMeteo, shows turbulent weather conditions in next 48 hours will see thundery showers across the Midlands, parts of north Wales, and the Home Counties.

By 10am, areas including Conwy, Denbighshire, and Cheshire will experience storms, which will then spread to the Midlands, particularly Birmingham and the Black Country, by lunchtime.

The map also details the movement of a low-pressure band that will bring rain to most of the UK by the afternoon.

While not all areas will experience thunderstorms, heavy rain is expected in eastern regions such as Cambridgeshire by 4pm.

By this time, thunderstorms will be most severe along the North Sea coast, especially in Lincolnshire.

Forecasters have also predicted that parts of the Home Counties, including Oxfordshire and Berkshire, will face storms on Monday night.

However, the rain is expected to clear overnight, leading to a drier and warmer Tuesday for many, with isolated spots in Southeast England seeing highs of just 14C.
